Blondes have more hair on average.... FACT or MYTH? The correct answer is: FACT! The average human head has over 100,000 individual strands of hair. Blondes (on average) have about 140,000 strands which is way more than brunettes—108,000 and redheads—90,000. Since blonde hair has less pigmentation the hair shafts tend to be slimmer, and require more hairs to adequately cover the scalp. Conversely, since red hair tends to have a greater diameter, it takes fewer hairs to cover the scalp.

Hair grows back darker and thicker after it has been shaved. FACT or MYTH? 22% answered FACT and 78% answered MYTH! The correct answer is: MYTH! Cutting does not stimulate new growth. (If it did, those going bald would be shaving afflicted areas to encourage regrowth of what they’re losing.) This belief probably stems from the perception that short hair seems to be tougher than long hair.

The latest hair trends are drawn from timeless classics with a rebellious abandonment to create lasting appeal and modern urban chic. Short hair prevails this coming season, highlighted by playful boyish looks with length through the top and fringe area to maintain softness. Beautiful short bobs are striking and can be worn smooth and slick or sassy and sexy with subtle layers to create movement. Designs are all about versatility and fluidity to enable you to produce more than one look.

Tip of the day: If you're wearing a plunging V-Neck dress for New Years, add some shimmer to your chest and decollete with some sparkly lotion! Your sparkly skin will garner lots of positive attention!

Shiny, healthy hair will brighten up a dull winter day in a flash, and that’s what glazing produces. If your client’s color already looks good, a glaze will give it some oomph! A clear glaze will improve hair’s texture and shine and a tinted glaze will brighten golden tones, soften brassy tones and enrich redheads.

Did you know that 60% of American women claim to have fine hair? Here is a simple tip that I found that works for achieving more volume in fine hair. Blow dry the hair about 80% dry before applying your styling product–this will give you maximum hold and volume. My favorite product to use is Redken’s Layer Lift 07 an elevating spray gel. Give this technique a try!

Naturally curly hair. Products, styling aids, are crucial to help gain control. Leave in treatments are awesome with naturally curly hair. Leave in treatments like Redken’s Smooth Down Detangling Cream Leave In Smoother will help reduce the volume of curly hair while refining the shape of the curl. Always apply to wet hair, then air dry or blow dry with a diffuser.
